Today, electric-powered cars are increasingly popular in Italy and Europe, thanks in part to the greater ubiquity of charging stations.
There are different types of charging equipment, DC or AC and with varying power. In addition, it is possible to distinguish between private and public electric charging stations.

- private charging stations located at private spaces, such as garages of residential homes, parking lots of corporate offices, parking lots of restaurants, hotels and shopping centers;
- public electric charging columns located at spaces open to the public, such as public roads and parking lots, parking areas of highways or parking lots of railway stations and airports, with the ability to deliver direct or alternating electric current and higher powers than private columns, charging more vehicles simultaneously.
